Well, now in japan, the rainy season is here. After this season, summer is coming!!
Do you know the Japanese rainy season and summer? The most unpleasant point is the humidity. Of course, the temperature for summer is very high, but hot weather is more bearable when the humidity is low in Japan….
Anyway, we Japanese have four seasons, and we have tried to enjoy every season by various ways for a long time, even if the summer is an awful heat and humidity!
Therefore, today I will show you one of the japanese summer sweets ” bamboo Youkan“. Youkan is a sweetened and jellied bean paste, and we can eat it all year round. However, we generally prefer a watery youkan to the normal youkan in the hottest season. (Of course, we can buy the normal youkan all year round.)
In this clean bamboo, there is the watery youkan, and it is sealed by a clean bamboo leaf. Prick the bottom of the bamboo with a needle, and the cylindrical watery youkan slide out of the bamboo…it is a cool-looking sweets!
